Welcome to Account Cloud Unity
A quick orientation to Account Cloud Unity — what it does, how it's organized, and where to go next.
Updated July 27, 2026
Account Cloud Unity is fund accounting software built specifically for nonprofits. This article is a quick orientation to how the product is organized so you can find your way around before diving into a specific task.
What Account Cloud Unity does
Unlike general-purpose accounting software, Unity is built around the way nonprofits actually have to track money:
- Funds — restricted and unrestricted pools of money are tracked separately, not mixed into one general balance.
- Grants — funding sources with reporting requirements are tracked from award through expiry, so nothing slips past a reporting deadline.
- Donors — every contribution is tied back to the individual or organization that gave it.
- Board-ready reporting — statements of activities and financial position are built around Net Assets (Without Donor Restrictions / With Donor Restrictions), the way your auditor and board expect to see them, not generic “Equity.”
How the product is organized
Once you’re signed in, the main areas you’ll use day to day are:
- Fund Accounting — funds, the chart of accounts, and journal entries.
- Grants — grant records, reporting schedules, and expiry tracking.
- Donations — donor records and gift history.
- Reports — statements of activities, financial position, and functional expenses.
Each of these areas has its own detailed guide — start with Understanding Funds and Net Assets if fund accounting is new to your team.
